Coding in Homeschool – Eureka Champs Online Coding Classes

Being a homeschool parent comes with a heavy weight- constantly thinking are we doing enough, are we teaching the right subjects. I know I feel this especially when it comes to the topic of technology in homeschool. My kids were not always homeschooled and at their previous charter school, even in younger grades such as Kindergarten they took a weekly technology class that taught them computer skills and as they got into older grades, started introducing coding.

I knew that I wanted technology and coding to be apart of our homeschool but I wasn’t sure where to start. I am so excited that I was able to work with the company Eureka Champs and utilize their online coding classes as part of our homeschool.

Eureka Champs is Online Coding Classes for Kids Aged 6 to 10 years old. Eureka Champs offers a full value FREE Trial Class so you can check out what we’re all about and gauge your level of interest. They don't require a credit card or any hidden fees! With classes being a maximum of 4 students, Eureka Champs teachers can give your child the attention needed to truly learn how to code and design games while having fun in their class.

Is Technology and Coding Skills Important to Teach Kids?

As a working, homeschooling mom, I have a lot of job experience in the work force and seeing the evolution of how technology has become so integrated in most aspects of work. Basic computer skills are common knowledge now, and coding is becoming a highly sought after experience in any job position.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, computer related jobs are expected to grow at the faster than average rate through 2026, as well as the median annual salary for these career types is $87,580 which is more than twice the average for all other occupations ($37,690).

From personal experience in the workforce and too many statistic to count- YES, I think technology and coding skills are incredibly important to teach children and add into your homeschool.

Why use Eureka Champs for Online Coding Classes?

Eureka Champs is a newer company but the mission of this company is truly great! Created by two Canadian parents who see the importance of teaching coding to kids. How was our Experience with Eureka Champs Online Coding Class?

To be completely honest I am always a little hesitant when kid classes require zoom, or multiple programs because I know that connecting to them and downloading can be frustrating and require a lot of time. I figured the free trial class would be spent just getting set up and logged in……. that wasn’t the case at all.

I helped my daughter get set up on zoom, made sure she could hear and see with video. In our session my daughter was the only one so she got 100% of the teachers attention. The teacher was able to walk myself and my daughter through the process to download systems like Minecraft Education and Tynker. If we got stuck she quickly asked to take control of the screen and got us where we needed to be. This process took less than 10 minutes. That means the other 50 minutes of the class were dedicated to my daughter learning coding!

I was absolutely shocked with how quickly they were able to get us set up and on to the fun stuff! My daughter had so much fun learning and interacting with the teacher. The live class was great because it provided immediate feedback. My daughter was able to ask questions and learn just like she was in a real classroom.

My daughter was so excited after her class to show me the game she made. She even continued playing in the systems after the class ended.

Aren’t Coding Classes Expensive?

Probably the most important thing is always how much does it cost. I was pleasantly surprised with the price point for these classes with the level of instruction from the teachers. If you purchase a normal package, the classes average around $19.95/ per hour class. Which is a great price and comparable to other online class formats.

Don’t forget the first trial class is FREE, then you can use my discount code below to receive 20% off your 8 class package– which would make this an amazing deal!
